IP Geolocation
AvailableEstimate where an IP address is used — city, region, country and coordinates on a world map — from the DB-IP Lite geolocation database, together with the network owner and routing.
Look up an IP address
Enter an IPv4 or IPv6 address — or use your own — to see who owns, routes and approximately locates it.
How it works
The address is matched against a local copy of the DB-IP “IP to City Lite” database (CC BY 4.0), refreshed monthly, so no lookup is sent to a third party. The result is the location of the provider’s address block — usually the city of a network hub, not of the device or person — and anycast addresses are answered from many places at once.
Safeguards & responsible use
- Locations are approximate (often only country or city level) and are never presented as a precise address.
- The data source and its update date are shown with every result.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is IP geolocation?
Usually right at country level, often right at region level, and frequently wrong at city level — especially for mobile networks, VPNs and large cloud or CDN providers. It never reveals a street address.
Why isn’t it available yet?
It needs a geolocation database with a suitable licence and regular updates. Until one is connected, IP Lookup shows the registration country, clearly labeled as such.
